SCHEDULE

  • When scheduling your appointment, consider that you will wait at least 7-8 hours, or 2-3 hours if Express formula is applied, for the tan to develop before taking your first shower.  If your tanning for an event, it's advisable to shower 1-2 more times before you get into that white dress, per se. Thus, you may ideally book your session 2 days before your event.

  • Other beauty services should precede your appointment.

    • Wax 12-24 hours prior to session in order to reduce sensitivity and allow your skin cells to rejuvenate.  Shaving is ideal the day before, however, it can be done the day of your appointment if necessary - skip the after-shave lotion.   PRO-TIP: Make sure there is no residue left from the razor's moisture strip.

    • Manicures and pedicures should be done prior your session, however, instructing your nail technician not to not massage or apply any lotion can permit you to schedule after. If your pedicure is just before your session advise NO LOTION be applied to the legs.

PREPARE

  • The day before your session, GENTLY exfoliate with a mild, water-based body wash and an exfoliating glove, focusing more on typically dryer areas like your elbows and knees.  PRO-TIP: Don't over exfoliate.

  • Avoid applying deodorant, perfume/cologne, body oils, creams or moisturizers the day of your tan as they will create a barrier on the skin. It's best to not have any make-up.

  • Wear dark-loose-fitting-clothes to your and open toe sandals. No bra is optimal, but if necessary, you may loosen its straps or opt for a strapless bra. If you are sleeping in the tan, wearing long pajama pants is recommend - the bronzer will come off on your sheets but it easily washes off.

DEVELOP

  • Avoid sweat and water until your first shower. PRO-TIP: If you get wet, simply pat dry the area with a foam brush - DON'T rub.

  • After 8 hours (for Regular formulas) or 1-3 hours (for Express formula), the tan has developed and it's time to take a lukewarm "soapless" shower (soap is o.k. under your armpits and private areas). You will see color (the bronzer) "rivering off" and when it runs clear your are finished. PRO-TIP: Be efficient and refrain from standing under the running water. Pat dry with a soft towel, now and for the remainder of your tan - don't scrub dry.

  • The next day or so, wash off the remaining bronzer you have on using only your hand and a mild body wash (NO Dove products) - no loofas, wash cloths, etc. now or until you want to remove your tan. Although you may now resume normal activities like going to the gym, wearing make-up, etc., please note that sports bras and other tight fitting clothing create friction and can cause the tan fade prematurely or cause "streaks and imperfections," and should thus be avoided until your 3rd day.

MAINTAIN

  • Although you may now resume normal activities like going to the gym, wearing make-up, etc., please note that sports bras and other tight fitting clothing create friction and can cause the tan fade prematurely or cause "streaks and imperfections," and should thus be avoided until your 3rd day.

  • Your tan will typically last about a week.  Fading is correlated to the level of your exfoliation activity and moisturizing regularly will thus lengthen your tan.  Avoiding swimming, taking long hot showers, products with harsh chemicals as well as toners, makeup remover (that contain alcohol or witch hazel), body hair lashes and Retina products.  PRO-TIP:  Since the face is always the first to fade, adding Self-Tan drops to your daily moisturize can help you maintain a glowing face.  Our self-tan spray is great for touch-ups too!

  • Remember to always wear sunscreen as a spray-tan does not provide any UV protection.
